"Ashoob" is a music video, set against the backdrop of dark streets in the cold winter of Seattle, Washington. Neesh raps about the chaos he faces in his daily life, and how he feels enlightened by the darkness around him. He seeks freedom and acknowledges that nothing is immortal, including the bad and evil. Neesh also reflects on the hypocrisy of human behavior, but decides to continue seeking freedom and being true to himself. The song is a powerful reflection on the struggles of life and the pursuit of personal growth and freedom.
It was in February 2020 and I had come to the realization that
It can be a considerable investment with uncertain returns, and for many independent artists, it's simply not feasible.
At that point I had already mastered marketing and branding a year prior to Neesh's shoot. That's why I suggested that we shoot extra content while we were in Seattle, as the camera package we rented would have counted as a one-day rental anyway. I told Neesh to have a couple of his other songs ready, so we could get the most out of our time there and have enough content for at least half a year worth of marketing content.
Neesh only had two songs at the time, "Baroon" and a freestyle short version song called "Ashoob".
"Ashoob" was the very first time Neesh had put himself in front of a camera, and he was understandably skeptical about his performance, as anyone would be in their first time. But we had worked on different projects together in the past, and we had established trust, so he was willing to take my direction. As soon as we got back to California, I had the urge to do something with the rushes we got for "Ashoob". The split-screen and the cuts weren't part of the plan, but when I sent it over to Neesh, he liked it a lot. So, one afternoon, he came over to my place, and we spent the entire day finishing "Ashoob".
That was when Neesh broke through a mass listener mainly in Iran, and it pumped him to get the grinding started.
I enjoy working with Neesh all the time because his work and his style of rapping is the most organic shit I've ever heard. His level of trust also allows me to bring my creativity into his visual work. It's amazing to see how far he has come since that first shoot in Seattle, and I am excited to see what the future holds for him. Make sure to check out his work on Spotify, Youtube & Soundcloud.
